Originally the Hound Knife has been tailor-made for dog trials as prize. This model is known as the Hound Knife, although it's suitable also for other hunting dogs' owners, like for those hunting with gun dogs. Dog knives are made for use, thus the materials are chosen to last; the handle is made of varnished curly birch with brass bolster. The dark stripe on the upper end of the handle is made of leather, and there's a cast bronze hound head on its pommel. The blade is 10cm long polished carbon steel. The sheath is made of light-coloured leather with brass fittings, and there's a burned stamping on it, chosen after its purpose of use. Technically similar knife is on production but with a spitz head in it, and it's called the Elkhound Knife.

The villagers and boys were amazed and in awe when a huge oddity rolled down the road in September, 1922. Alfred Kosola’s horses had to tax their strength when drawing a sleigh with an indenting hammer of 5.000 kilograms, along the snowless road to the Järvenpää’s factory. The cubs’ imagination really took over, when they began to hear a constant pounding from the factory. It was like an iron giant’s sledgehammer banging.
