Oltermanni knife

Oltermanni is a Finnish word meaning Alderman or Ealdorman. Something like a wiseman or leader of the community. This title was used widely in various forms all over the world for many centuries. On many occasions this position was shown with an Alderman´s staff or rod.

An Oltermanni knife handle is made following the design of these rods. The leather sheath decoration looks like old birch bark braided products. Oltermanni knife went into production in the 1970s and went out of production in the early 2000s. Now Oltermanni is available again.
